cappuccino

How to Make a Cappuccino (Hot and Iced)

A cappuccino is a classic espresso beverage which, in Italian coffee culture, is enjoyed only in the early or mid-morning and often accompanied by a breakfast pastry. It's made with equal parts espresso, steamed milk, and milk foam, lending a rich, frothy mouthfeel to each sip.

Ingredients

1 L’OR espresso capsule
6-8 oz. milk
Ice (optional)

To prepare a cappuccino at home, simply follow these 4 steps:

  • Use your L'OR BARISTA system to make a shot (or two) of espresso.
  • Top it with equal parts steamed milk and milk foam. This is done by warming a few ounces of milk on a stovetop until it begins to release steam.
  • Once you've poured some over the espresso in your cup, whip the rest of the milk in the pan with a handheld frother or whisk.
  • Add the foam to the top of your drink, and enjoy.

For an iced cappuccino, follow the steps above, but give the espresso a few moments to cool before pouring it over ice. Follow it with cold milk instead of steamed milk, and complete the process with an equal amount of cold frothed milk on top.

Latte

How to Make a Latte (Hot and Iced)

The latte has taken the world by storm in recent years, and for good reason: with its generous amount of milk and foam, it typically offers more protein and can be more filling than other café drinks. Its milk content also lends itself well to added flavors like vanilla or hazelnut, making it a versatile café order.

Ingredients

1 L’OR espresso capsule
6-8 oz. milk
Ice (optional)

To prepare a latte at home, follow these 3 simple steps:

  • Make a serving (or two, for a double) of espresso with your L'OR BARISTA system.
  • Fill the rest of your cup with the steamed milk of your choice.
  • If you'd like, you can also add a small amount of frothed milk to the top, although this step is optional.

To make an iced latte, follow the steps above, but let the espresso cool off for a few minutes before pouring it over ice. Then, pour cold milk almost to the top of your glass, stir, and enjoy.

Macchiato

How to Make a Macchiato (Hot and Iced)

The word "macchiato" is Italian for "marked" or "stained;" it's an apt name for the drink, which is traditionally served as a shot of espresso marked or lightened by a simple dollop of milk foam on top. Modern interpretations add more foam to yield a 1:1 ratio, but however you prefer your drink, it's simple to prepare.

Ingredients

1 L’OR espresso capsule
2-3 oz. milk
Ice (optional)

To make a classic caffé macchiato, follow these 3 steps:

  • Use your L'OR BARISTA system to prepare a serving of espresso (or two, for a double)
  • Use a milk frother or whisk to whip your warm or cool milk into foam.
  • Gently add a foam dollop (or several, if you'd like) to the top of your espresso, and tada! You've made a macchiato.

For an iced macchiato, the same instructions apply, but again, you'll want to let your espresso cool down a bit before pouring over ice and topping off with cool milk foam for a cold, bold treat.

Mocha Coffee

How to Make a Mocha (Hot and Iced)

With its rich chocolate flavor, a mocha is the most decadent and sweet of the classic café beverages.

Ingredients

1 L’OR espresso capsule
1 oz. chocolate sauce
6-8 oz. milk
Ice (optional)

To make a mocha at home, follow these 4 steps:

  • Start by preparing a shot (or two, if you prefer) of espresso with your L'OR BARISTA system
  • Add a tablespoon of chocolate syrup into the cup, stirring well to combine.
  • Separately, use a handheld frother or whisk to whip a few ounces of warm milk into foam
  • Pour the foam over the combined chocolate and espresso, and enjoy.

To make an iced mocha, after stirring the chocolate into the espresso, let it cool down for a few minutes. Then, add as much ice as you'd like and fill the glass almost to the top with cold milk. Stir again to swirl the milk into the rest of the liquid, and for extra sweetness and texture, enjoy with an optional dollop of whipped cream.
